  • STAGE MANAGER

    Jessi Barber (she/her) is a queer production manager, technical director, lighting designer and stage manager with over a decade of professional arts experience in the Bay Area/Ohlone Land. She is a member of the non-hierarchical Steering Committee that produces the Queering Dance Festival (QDF), has worked with KH Fresh Festival, FRESH MEAT Festival, Nina Haft & Co., and Fog Beast, among many others. She currently serves on the board of Bridge Live Arts and was previously Production Manager at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center (Berkeley) and Producing Lead at Joe Goode Performance Group (SF).

    Jax Blaska (they/them) is a San Francisco-born-and-raised creative maker, theater director, and new-work collaborator. They make and support art that celebrates process, curiosity, and the unconventional, and incorporates interdisciplinary performance, nonlinear storytelling, immersive exploration, ritual, spectacle, and a healthy dose of the absurd. They believe in seeking transformation, liberation, and belonging through art.

    Kacie is Los Angeles based performing artist specializing in contemporary dance, immersive theater, and commercial dance. Some credits include: Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More, The Metropolitan Opera, Keigwin + Company, The Shed, Oddknock Productions, West Edge Opera, and the 2016 Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof. In addition to performing, Kacie is a practicing Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, and is currently working towards her certification in Gyrokinesis.

    James Brunt is an actor/director born and raised in Denver, Colorado most known for pushing the boundaries of what we know about theater with immersive productions in obscure settings and hard hitting concepts that make his audience truly reflect on their views of the world. Playing roles from a cleaver wielding beet butcher, to a zany detective on the hunt for answers, he loves to create anything that will make his heartbeat faster and blood boil up. He received the 2019 True West award for breakout actors for his challenging portrayal of taxi driver, Bobby, in Mosque with The Black Actors.

    Kat Gorospe Cole is Queer Filipinx artmaker whose works invoke subtlety and spectacle through film, performance and drag. They have the pleasure of co-directing Detour with Eric Garcia in many fantastical performance shenanigans and are excited to be with the company again in this work. Her short films have screened in over 25 festivals including NewFest, CAAMFest and Hot Docs, and they received an Artist Fellowship from California Arts Council. He can also be seen late nights as the drag king Sir Acha.

    Quinn Dixon is a multi-disciplinary artist based in New York. From 2017-2019 they performed full time in Punchdrunk’s, immersive off-broadway show, Sleep No More. In the years following, they’ve been blessed to work with audio + movement composure, Kinlaw on TTS Extended; Denver based production company OddKnock on TK5; the feature film Little Boxes by cullen+them; and Detour on We Build Houses Here.

    Edie Eve is a San Francisco based published model and nightlife performer. She is one badass and proud Indigenous Latina and loves to show the beauty of their culture and background with each performance and photoshoot. She has modeled for several major brands most notably Dark Garden Corsetry. They have also graced the pages and covers of numerous magazines including Campout Magazine and most recently Car Kulture Deluxe. She was recently featured in Shannon Brooke's book, "Instant Idoll." She has performed for close to a decade with the Bay Area being their home base.

  • MUSIC

    Jaren Feeley is a pianist, composer and arts organizer. Recent dance highlights include scores presented by Amherst College, Whim W'him, Detour Dance, and Dance On Camera Festival @ Lincoln Center. As a pianist, he records and tours internationally with the art-rock band SPELLLING. He has curated seven iterations of MOONSTRUCK, an arts happening in the East Bay that combines performance, ecological place-making, and moonlit hikes. In the last year he's started a popular monthly concert series at his co-op in Brooklyn.

    Syd (Les B. Frank) is a trans, nonbinary dance-based performer & graphic designer living bicoastally between Brooklyn and the Bay. With an emphasis on dance theater and drag, they prioritize collaboration, creative play, and rigorous movement research to explore identity, community, and queer joy. They’re originally from Houston, studied at Loyola Marymount University, and then trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. They’ve been collaborating with Detour since 2017, including the recent We Build Houses Here, and are a proud member of the Clutch the Pearls family.

    Jeff is an Indo dramaturg, dancer, and performance researcher. He has collaborated on projects featured at W139, Fusebox Festival, the Cohen New Works Festival among others. He is especially proud of his work on TIGER HANDS with Benjamin Akio Kimitch, which was featured in the Shed's Open Call 2022 and won a Bessie Award for Outstanding Choreographer/Maker. Jeff dances with Gamelan Sekar Jaya, a Balinese performing arts community in South Berkeley, where he has studied with Tjokorda Istri Putri Rukmini, I Made Suteja, and Ni Nyoman Srayamurtikanti.

    Eric Garcia is a San Francisco-based devised dance-theater artist, drag queen, community organizer, and the Co-Director of Detour. He creates immersive and site-responsive performances that straddle nostalgia, radical futurism, collaborative ensembles, and queer maximalism. Eric is rooted in the queer nightlife and drag performance scene as Churro Nomi, and produces/hosts Clutch The Pearls, a drag cabaret on the first Sunday of every month at Make-Out Room in the Mission District. Since 2010, Eric proudly serves as Managing Director for both Fresh Meat Productions and the SF Transgender Film Festival.

    Glamputee is a Black-White biracial, disabled, queer flamingo shaping culture through art and activism. Disability justice is their North star and their work is a product of alchemizing ableist violence into radical joy on stage.

    Glamputee takes pride in gifting their flamboyant Leo fire to dance and drag scenes alike. In collaboration with Detour Dance, they created work for the Up on High film series and were featured in We Build Houses Here. Glamputee is also the reigning Butch Queen, a win they credit to deep support from their Clutch the Pearls fam and drag mutha, Cheetah Biscotti.

    Aviya (she/her) is a queer performance artist and teaching artist working primarily in movement, autobiography, and comedy, bouncing between Brooklyn and Oakland. In addition to performing her own work, she has performed in collaboration with Carmen Caceres DanceAction, Yehuda Hyman’s Mystical Feet Company, The Yiddish Theater Ensemble, was a 2022 EmergeNYC Fellow and Artist in Residence at The Sable Project. Aviya can also be seen creating and supporting fantastical explorations of queer joy and mischief in nightlife performance spaces.

    Originally from Mexico City and Los Angeles, Nico Maimon is a queer Bay Area performer, choreographer, educator, and community organizer. She also works with children, performs drag, and plays drums in a punk band called gutfux. She uses art to push beyond the confines of our systemic reality and create tangible examples of the imagined.

    Like many of us, Del Medoff (Lighting Design) has a long history with secret societies. It started with his grandfather, a Freemason in Springfield, MO. Carrying on that proud tradition, Del became a knight in Skyline Highs theater techs' Order of the Green Bunnies. End of list. Ok, maybe that's not a long history. To that effect, Del is open to any societies that might be looking for someone with lackluster involvement and medium enthusiasm. Until that opportunity arrises, Del hopes to continue his multi decade involvement with Detour Dance and the amazing community that surrounds it.

    Joy Prendergast has had the pleasure of performing, choreographing and teaching in the US and abroad. Her notable training began at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance under the direction of Summer Lee Rhatigan. She has since worked and performed for Bay Area companies and choreographers such as Alex Ketly, Malinda LaVelle, Allyce Finnwall Dance Theater, Katie Faulkner, Amelia Rudolph, Robert Moses, Dandelion Dance Theater, and Woodminster Theater. Joy's choreography has been presented in San Francisco, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Northern Colorado.

    Brian Thorstenson is a San Francisco based writer and teacher. He was a founding member of The Z Collective, one of the first resident artists t the Z Space, was a Resident Playwright at the Playwrights Foundation, and one of the founding members of 6NewPlays. He is a Senior Lecturer in Playwriting and Devised Theater at Santa Clara University where he was recently named the Frank Sinatra Chair in the Performing Arts, 2023-2025 and will be collaborating with Detour on a new project.

    Lou grew up on unceded Coast Miwok land (Novato, California). They began learning modern dance techniques at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in 2019, after practicing karate since childhood. They have previously performed with pateldanceworks, ChingChi Yu, Okinawa Eisaa Shimadaiko, and as a solo artist in the 2023 Queering Dance Festival. They also work as a composer and sound designer for dance artists. They are honored to be a first-time deviser performer with Detour.

    I am a deaf/HoH, BiPOC/Latinx two-spirit artist from central California. I use my art form to push the agenda of representation in multi-faceted bodies and intersectional identities. I’m always pushing the narrative of artistry for people who exist beyond the binaries of race, gender, ethnicity, orientation, and abilities. I have a Bachelors in Theatre Arts and am prolific in the world of performance. I am so thrilled to once again be working with Detour Dance. I would like to thank my community for catapulting me to embrace the life I’m living and my own abundant ambition for beating the odds; no matter what the task.

    Chuck is a choreographer, drag artist known as Fuchsia, educator and the Artistic Director of San Francisco based dance company UNA Productions. They are currently on faculty at the LINES Training Program and Drop In SF and have taught, created and set repertory for universities, training programs, professional companies, youth companies, high schools, and professional dancers. Chuck’s work through UNA has been presented in San Francisco, NYC, Maryland, Colorado, San Diego, Massachusetts, Tokyo and Kaga Japan, Montreal, Vancouver and Rural BC.
