ABOUT THE Detour Company Class

Advanced Modern/Contemporary: Whole Body Expression

What “stories” can we tell with movement? In this class, we explore ways to help enrich our dancing and storytelling through our bodies and presence. How do we conjure up a magical world where we “live” and move through? This class explores different ways of connecting our body and mind through games and improvisation, which can also serve as inspiration, providing material for part of our phrase-work. We then integrate what we have discovered into a whole-body expression that conveys emotion and intrigue.

ACCESSIBILITY

• This class is designed for advanced, pre-professional, and professional dance and theater artists.

• Sliding-scale tuition is available; no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Email directors@detour.productions to learn more.

• Joe Goode Annex is ADA accessible and has gender-neutral restrooms.

• KN95 masks are encouraged, though not required. Please stay home if you are feeling unwell.
